Four Things You Need to Know
Football finance: Tunisia approved the listing of Taraji Holding, Espérance Sportive de Tunis’s commercial arm, marking the country’s first football club IPO. The offering will float 30.76% of shares and aims to align football with capital market governance, attracting retail investors and opening a new chapter in North African sports financing.
Debt funding: Wave raised $137M in debt led by RMB and DFIs to expand its mobile money footprint across Africa. The Senegal-born fintech, already serving 20 million users, disrupted legacy telcos with low fees and now aims to deepen financial access while scaling infrastructure in new markets.
Cloud pivot: MTN Nigeria completed Phase 1 of a $235M data center, entering the commercial hosting space with a Tier III facility. Designed for AI and IaaS workloads, the centre aims to repatriate cloud spending, offer naira-priced services, and establish MTN as a serious cloud contender in Nigeria.
Bank IPO: BGFI Holding launched a $27.6M IPO on the BVMAC and is set to become the first regional multinational to list on the Central African exchange. The offering aims to strengthen equity, boost subsidiary growth, and introduce corporate governance reforms, marking a turning point for CEMAC’s nascent capital markets.
